Well, we’ve certainly heard this rumor time and time again. This time around, it goes as follows: a man who has recently visited his local Verizon store was inquiring about the iPhone as he wants one but is holding out for the Verizon network to get it. The Verizon employee eventually “… got this excited look on their face and with boldness the employee declared ‘we’re getting one’ of the iPhone.” However, he didn’t stop there and continued his statement with saying the new hardware should be announced this summer and will be available sometime in December. The hardware will support both the Verizon and AT&T network, according to the employee.
Now, despite the fact that this information was acquired through a chat with a random Verizon employee, it may have some ground. For one, how much longer could Apple possibly hold on to their locked in agreement with AT&T? Furthermore, the iPhone is due for a hardware refresh that has been rumored to be coming around June 22nd. Hopefully, the wait will be over soon for people like the man in this story. Everyone knows AT&T’s network could use a little work, and having some users switch to Verizon if this happens would certainly help.
As a side note, if this is true, I’m sure the AT&T/Verizon ad battle may finally be over for the iPhone.
