The Mezzi M1 Molded Attache Laptop Case is a hard case meant to carry and protect your laptop. Coming with a combination lock built in to the case, a shoulder strap, and various compartments for holding papers, pens, etc., this case has some features that makes it different from others, but contains your standard features as well.
The exterior of the case is made of aluminum at a height of 4.3 inches. Along the sides are two small pins used to easily attach and detach the shoulder strap, which is a nice addition. If the shoulder strap isn’t your style, though, there is also the ability to carry the case using the chrome handle. In terms of weight, the case comes in at 8lbs. With a laptop and perhaps other objects inside, the extra security of a hard case versus a soft one is made up in weight on your shoulder.
Opening the case requires a three digit combination using the built-in lock. This combination can be changed. While setting a combination wasn’t very difficult, the quality of the lock in terms of the numbers spinning fluidly wasn’t as great as I expected after seeing the rest of the case. Once the combination is set, you should first check to make sure it works before closing the case. After that, you’re fine until the next time you want to change it, and intruders will have no way of accessing the contents of your case outside of simply tearing it apart.
The way in which the case initially opens is very nice. With supports on both sides of the case, it will easily remain open while the bottom of the case is flat on a surface. Furthermore, the interior of the case contains plenty of storage, padding, and extras. In a mostly orange padding color, there are also three gray, movable velcro padding strips included with the case that can be used to organize your laptop and extras more efficiently. Also, a velcro stap in the middle is meant to hold your laptop in place on the go. My 15″ MacBook Pro easily fit inside of the case.
The upper part of the case has room for three pens, disks, business cards, and papers/folders. What’s nice about the paper/folder holder is that the width of it can be adjusted using button straps along the top. This storage area of the case is pretty straightforward and simple, which is part of what I like about it.
All in all, the Mezzi case is pretty good. While I’m more a fan more of softer cases, this one does a pretty great job and isn’t too heavy. There is plenty of padding to keep your computer safe should it be battered around in the back of a car or on the go, yet there is also plenty of storage and security for what a business person may want. The only part I didn’t like when it came to storage is that I couldn’t really find a decent place to put my charging cable other than on top of the laptop itself, which is somewhat annoying to me.
If you want a hard case that’s simple, definitely check this one out.
