Supreme Commander 2—developed by Gas Powered Games and released this March for PC and Xbox 360 from publisher Square Enix—will be storming its way onto the Mac later this year. The real-time strategy game involves the construction of gigantic mechanized armies with which you’ll wage war on land, in the sea, an in the air.
A single shot. That’s all it takes to end the tenuous peace between the United Earth Federation (UEF), the Aeon Illuminate, and the Cybran Nation, a mere 25 years after the three created the Colonial Defense Coalition and worked together to defeat the invading aliens known as Seraphim. The assassination of the newly elected president of the Coalition brings the three to the brink of war in Supreme Commander 2, the sequel to the highly-acclaimed strategy title that captivated gamers three years ago.
Supreme Commander 2 offers multiple game modes for both single and multiplayer action. “We’re honored to bring this highly anticipated game to the Mac mere months after its arrival for PC and Xbox 360,” said Virtual Programming CEO Mark Hinton. “We can’t wait to follow the fate of the UEF, the Aeon Illuminate, and the Cybran Nation through Supreme Commander 2’s 21 missions.”
Pricing and system requirements for the Mac version will be unveiled in the coming months, and an official release date has not yet been announced. The game will be available as a digital download at Virtual Programming’s Deliver2Mac.com service and will also ship to retail as a boxed product.
