If you’ve been waiting for the sleekest and coolest news reader app for your iPad, it has finally arrived. Right at this moment it is available on the iPad App Store under the name Pulse News Reader. This app redefines the way you consume news feeds on a mobile device. Its unique interface coupled with a fast loading capability easily make it the best reader for iPad to date.
Alright, let’s get to the bottom of things and enumerate Pulse News Reader’s features. The app lets you select news feeds from your favorite sites, and then displays news items in a grid-like format consisting of up to 20 sites maximum. Yes, this might be too few, especially if you are a voracious RSS/News feed reader and your life depends on news feeds. Let’s hope that the two Stanford guys who developed the app treat us all soon and remove this 20 item limit.
As soon as you’ve filled up all twenty slots with news feeds from your favorite sites, you can start reading them one by one just by tapping on their respective boxes. Tapping on a box triggers the app to open the news item, occupying two thirds of your iPad’s screen. Just below are the boxes for other contents of that particular site. While reading the news item, you can tap on the “sharing” icon located at the bottom right of your iPad screen. This will bring out the sharing feature which allows you to post the news item to Facebook, Twitter or send it via email. You can also adjust the font size of the text by tapping on the font icon.
That’s basically all you can do from this app. It may not be a lot, but hey, what else can you expect from a news reader? To appreciate the goodness of this app, you have to use it as often as you can. Make it your default RSS/News feed reader and, in time, you’ll appreciate how great the app actually is.
In the absence of a better reader for iPad, Pulse News Reader is the best right now. No wonder that a day after it was released on the App Store it became the number one most downloaded app.
