Perhaps some of the most interesting news surrounding the iPhone operating system out of WWDC this year was the renaming of iPhone OS 4 to iOS 4. While Steve didn’t give a reason, I can assume it will make it easier to remember, write, and say. During the keynote, Steve reiterated some of features we already knew existed. There’s multi tasking, a unified inbox with threaded messages, and folders among the top changes in the operating system. However, Steve Jobs also took the time to mention that Microsoft’s Bing search engine will now receive a spot alongside of Yahoo! and Google for settings of Safari’s default search engine. Perhaps another stab at Google?

In other news, the Gold Master of the iOS 4 will be released to developers today, meaning it is well on its way to making the end of the summer deadline Steve promised last year. Furthermore, Steve announced they will sell their 100 millionth iOS device this month. That’s a lot of mobile Apple products, people.
