Is iWork coming to iPhone 4?After this week’s announcement of the new Apple iPhone 4, Apple’s website was quickly updated with the new details, photos and video for the highly anticipated device. One of these many new pages gives information about the updates to the Mail application, and on there was a reference made to the iWork suite coming to the fourth generation iPhone.

On the iPhone 4′s features page, there’s a screen shot of opening an attachment from an email and opening it using a specified application. Visiting the page now, the option is to “open in ‘iBooks.’ ” Earlier that day, however, when MacRumors managed to grab a screen capture, it read “open in ‘Keynote.’ ” It could simply be an error in the design of the screen shots themselves, as it was quickly changed over to iBooks, which we already know is heading to the iPhone App Store in the near future. Having said that though, it could also have been a premature reference to the mobile iWork suite coming to the iPhone—a version similar to that already available on the iPad.

Personally, I wouldn’t want iWork on my iPhone for anything more than opening an email attachment and maybe editing a couple of words. Keynote itself would be the best option for ultra-mobile use, but Pages and Numbers would feel too cramped on the display. Although, with the future update of iOS 4.0 allowing the use of Bluetooth keyboards with the iPhone, it could prove to be a secondary option if both your Mac and iPad were unavailable. I guess only time will tell on this one, but if iWork is heading to iPhone 4, it’s likely to be available upon the device’s launch on June 24th.
