Happy Appsgiving Day

Or should that be Appy Birthday? Either way, the App Store turns two today, having gone live on July 10th, 2008. Oh, sure, we could go on and on about the importance of the App Store and how it revolutionized smart phones and made millionaires of college kids and what have you, but wouldn’t you rather use it than read about it?

The folks at Appsgiving.com would agree, and they’ve got a friendly suggestion for you; gift an iPhone or iPad app to someone special.

Your friends and family love apps too. Did you know that you can gift apps to them? There is one special day when you should make someone’s day with an app. Appsgiving day is celebrated the official day the App Store was born. Celebration is in order! Give and bring more joy to the world one app a time!

They’ve got helpful instructions on how to gift apps, and they even make some suggestions for good gifts. I notice they’re missing Star Walk, though. I recommend Star Walk as a gift to anyone not bothered with light pollution…and who has a 3GS or higher. For iPad apps, let’s go with Wallace and Gromit. Hard to go wrong with Wallace and Gromit.
