Many rely on Apple’s Time Capsule to store and serve their data on their local networks. However, if you were an early adopter of Apple’s Time Capsule (between February 2008, when it first shipped, and June 2008), you might have had your device not power on or shut down unexpectedly after starting up.

Time Capsules manufactured within that period have serial numbers within the range: XX807XXXXXX – XX814XXXXXX. Those who suspect their Time Capsules are, in fact, shutting down randomly or not powering on can visit Apple Retail Stores or Authorized Apple Service Providers, where, if the issue is confirmed, the Time Capsules will be replaced or repaired for no charge.

Those living in the United States or Japan can even mail in their Time Capsules for service within five days.

So, Time Capsule owners, is free service worth the data loss you faced? Let us know in the comments.
