Today, Apple addressed the iPhone 4 antenna problem by offering owners free Apple Bumpers. I can’t fix any reception issues you may or may not be experiencing with your iPhone 4, but I can point you in the direction of some free apps to help you not want to answer calls anyway.
rRootage Online – This is another port of Kenta Cho’s shooter rRootage. You pilot a ship amidst a screen full of bullets. The only way to stay alive is to fight back while dodging like crazy. Very fun.
Firefox Home – Is not Firefox for iPhone. But it does have some interesting features that work alongside desktop Firefox. You can sync bookmarks, and open tabs and history to this app, provided you have Firefox Sync installed (instructions). From there, your bookmarks, history and open tabs can be opened directly in Firefox Home or in mobile Safari.
Audible – If you have an Audible account, this app is pretty much a necessity. It’s a service not unlike books on tape, only the books are read more like mp3s. If you don’t already have an account, you can create one and get an excerpt from “The FaceBook Effect.” As to be expected, the app can download your books over WiFi.
WordsWorth Free – You can never have enough word puzzle games. This one challenges you to find words in a honeycomb like structure of letters. Longer words and harder letters get you higher scores. There are numerous modes and you can challenge your friends over WiFi or Bluetooth.
iLight Pro – There are tons of iPhone 4 LED flaghlight apps out there, but here’s another. This one can function as both a flashlight and a strobe all without the need for ad dollars. Fancy.
iChatr – Basically, this is Chatroulette for iPhone 4, without a big recognizable name like Chatroulette. I don’t see the appeal, but I guess the Internet really likes seeing and talking to random strangers. The advantage here is that you’re basically filtering out the Apple haters, because you have to have an iPhone 4 to use the service. So, you’ll be in good company. iPhone 4 only, and for some odd reason, you need to use headphones.
Chess Free HD – Another chess app, this time for iPad. It has both 1 and 2 player gameplay, meaning you don’t have to have chess buddies to play. It’s ad supported.
eBay Fashion – You already have the eBay app for iPhone, so why do you need a fashion specific app? Well, this app offers exclusive limited time sales on certain items from designers. There’s a closet to save all of the articles you fancy, an outfit builder to match the perfect pieces together, and you can even take your picture to see how it might look yourself. If only if told you how good you looked, then they’d really have something.
iTunes Connect Mobile – Are you a developer trying to keep track of how your apps are doing…while on the go? Well, now you can. It looks a lot like the Stocks app, only for your products.
gtxt – A one way texting app that uses your Google Voice account. Currently, you can only send texts, not receive them. That’s too bad, because this would be a pretty cool app if it were fully functional.
Omino for iPad – Last week I covered Omino for iPhone. This is the same thing optimized for iPad, though there’s one extra feature: an iPhone controller app…
Omino Controller – Last thing about Omino, I promise. I just have a thing for apps that connect together like this. The app is purely for controlling Omino for iPad. That is all.
Stick Golf HD – Free for a limited time. It’s a different take on 2D golfing. Instead of seeing the green from above, you see the course from the side. While you might assume that this makes getting the ball in the hole much simpler, there is a lot of vertical terrain to deal with between the tee and the flag. And we can’t forget about hazards. Looks pretty fun, and it’s getting pretty good reviews, so I’d grab it for free while you can if I were you.
TowerMadness HD – Free for today only, which means you may not even want to read my description. But if you do, this is a 3D tower defense game. There are a ton of enemy types, weapons and maps available in the game. Normally, it’s $8, so grab it now if you’re even remotely interested.
