So says Mikael Svardh at fosfor. He does have a pretty good list, including apps such as Photo fx Ultra, TiltShift Generator for iPad, Diptic, but I’d like to humbly suggest Artist’s Touch. Likely, you’ve got some favorites of your own, as well. But if you’re looking to turn your iPad into a photo canvas (and it’s really well suited for that), these app suggestions from Mikael are a great place to get started.
The iPad can be a great tool for playing around with your photos and even though the device don’t feature a camera it’s easy to transfer your photos to the iPad. Here’s a list of 12 awesome photo apps for the iPad.

It's true, the iPad is a wonderful medium for photo manipulation/editing. It has a wonderful, almost tactile quality to it. I think it's an even better experience than web browsing, personally.
Meh…I prefer a bottle of 'hand lotion' and some 'alone time'…
Great suggestions. I’ve been looking for some photo apps for my iPad and the ones you’ve recommended in here seem interesting, especially the photofx ultra and tiltshift generator. Thanks for this one! By the way, there’s a good photography app that allows you to send the photos you took directly to your email for later editing. It’s called Snap-A-Note by Rainbow Riders. Not a comprehensive app, but very handy if you really have to send your photos to someone else.
