Let’s be honest with each other; those who have had their Mac for a while know it can get gunked up. Those videos you just had to snatch off of YouTube or an .iso file that you don’t need anymore could easily be hanging out on your system taking up space that could be used for the more important things in life, like expanding the ’80s classics in your iTunes library. If you’re looking for a great way to keep things clean, Daisy Disk may just be it. Want to know more? Well, you’re in the right place.
Installation and Use
Daisy Disk downloads and installs quickly and easily enough even on modest older systems. Like any good space-saving program, it has the good graces to not take up too much room.
Once installed, the software is exceptionally easy to use. The buttons are minimal and deal with only functions you will want to use on an average use. Disk scans are also noticeably quick—a feature you do not find in many other clean up utilities.
In my review tests, the disk scans seemed to be completely accurate. They also seemed to be adaptive to system changes without the need to reboot the system. You will need to do a second scan in this case, but it doesn’t take long at all.
Your scan results are displayed in the form of the Daisy Wheel. Sure, its pretty, but it is also a dashboard that allows you to access a full file list and detect things for good. While it does provide you with something similar to the image above, this is only the beginning. You will be able to go in depth by clicking on any of the sections of the wheel to see more information about the files contained within. From there, you can send the ones that are not of use to their ugly demise.
On the whole this software is beautiful, useful and easy to use. At only $20, Daisy Disk is a great value for anyone looking to improve the performance of their Mac.
