Macintosh and iPhone/iPod/iPad updates and announcements for July 26, 2010:

Macintosh

• This week’s Weekly Specials at TheMacBundles are File Juicer and AlienConverter. Until 8/1, both programs are being offered for large discounts. • AnyBizSoft has launched a large-scale giveaway of AnyBizSoft PDF to Word for Mac on Facebook. From July 26 to August 8, 2010, anyone who visits their Facebook account can get a free license, worth $39.95.

• Source R&D, a company dedicated to bringing single-chip wireless USB solutions to the mainstream, announced that the Warpia Easy Dock is now available for purchase online. The Easy Dock allows users to wirelessly connect their laptop/netbook/Macbook to any traditional desktop setting: a mouse, keyboard, speakers, and a 15-21” external monitor. Consumers can have both the convenience of a laptop and the comfort of a desktop computer. Easier on the eyes, ears and hands, users will no longer have to squint at a miniature screen, deal with a below average sound quality, or fumble with a tiny keyboard.

iPhone/iPod

• Cramzy has introduced Type2Walk 1.1, their type and walk app for the iPhone. Holding the iPhone in either portrait or landscape orientation, the app simultaneously activates the device’s video camera view and iOS keyboard below it. Users may text or email, and the typed characters appear superimposed over the camera’s forward view on the display, which shows where they are walking. Owners of the iPhone 4 may also activate the built-in video light to illuminate their path as they walk and type.
• SMASHWORX, LLC has released a massive update to Propaganda Lander, the innovative lander-flight game for iPhone and iPod touch devices. Propaganda Lander now includes Survival Remix, Easy, and Hardcore modes. Players can compete for high scores in 3 different leaderboards utilizing the AGON Online system. Propaganda Lander now supports iOS 4.0 with Fast-App Switching. This is the update fans have been clamoring for.
• ConglomerApps LLC has released Frog Feast 1.0 for iPad users. Freddy is the frog and the feasting begins when players flick Freddy’s unique tongue to catch various types of good bugs, while avoiding hazardous insects that rob players of their points. There are multiple levels in Frog Feast but players must pass a challenge before advancing from one level to the next. Users can play alone or select the two player mode to challenge a friend.
• Online E-Ventures Inc. has released Fit Pulse 1.0 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. Fit Pulse combines innovation, knowledge and motivation with a customized workout and social experience. The app tracks a user’s workout history, nutrition intake, as well as weight loss or gain. There is also a Fit Quiz that users can take to test their fitness and nutrition knowledge. Fit Pulse also allows for socializing with other users for support.
• Darren Holley has released GiftCard Trader 1.0 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. GiftCard Trader was created to solve the problem of dealing with unwanted gift cards. Consumers are able to sell cards or buy them at a discount, using the listing form or easy, multi-option search feature. Consumers can save money as they sell their gift cards or let the iPhone’s built-in GPS find cards for sale at discounted prices within the user’s specified area range.
• TheMovieMap.com has released TheMovieMap 1.0 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. TheMovieMap is a movie lover’s guide to filming locations around the world, combining GPS technology and an information database to provide scene addresses and trivia details about each movie site. Features include two ways to perform searches and allows users to submit any filming locations they know about.
• MediaLAB, Inc. has released Walkee iGuide to Disneyland 1.4.1 for iPhone and iPod touch users. With its dozens of exciting features, Walkee iGuide to Disneyland was specifically designed to guide users through the more than five hundred acres of Disneyland and southern California. Users can pinpoint attractions, shops and restaurants, map out their route and activities ahead of time, find points of interest in other areas of southern California and check the weather.
• Jerad Hill Studios has announced the DailyAppShow App for the iPhone, iPad, and Android platforms. A popular video podcast the DailyAppShow has allowed an eager public to view demonstrations and reviews of the newest and hottest apps on their computers. With today’s release of the DailyAppShow App, developers and customers can connect with one another on their favorite mobile devices for the first time.

• Thinking Code Software, Inc., has announced Dejumble 2.0 for iPhone, an iPhone compatible version of their best-selling task and note management software for Mac OS X. While simple and straightforward in appearance and operation, the app includes features not found in most other to-do or note taking applications. It also employs proprietary, push sync technology to synchronize with any other Dejumble app running on an iPhone, iPod, iPad, or Mac by means of a free Dejumble Account.
• Mayan Software has released Sudoku! 1.8, an update to their popular puzzle game for the iPhone and iPod touch. With an elegant layout and attractive interface design, users can choose a difficulty and start a sudoku game within seconds. Every functionality can quickly be located and used within the main screen. With 2 game modes, you can choose to play against time or choose to just lay back and relax while solving your puzzles.
• Basyboy today announces Crowd Patrol 1.0 for iPhone and iPad devices. You are a member of the Crowd Patrol Squad, and your goal is to snipe out the terrorist, before the time on the bomb runs out. • Spectra Magazine is a digital-only science fiction, fantasy and horror short fiction publication, specifically for eReaders and soon to be available from a range of popular eBook stores, including the Apple App Store, WH Smiths, Amazon, Kobo, OmniLit and the Android Marketplace. • Zentertain has announced a rhythm/music game named Tapic. It is like Tap Tap Revenge, but you can play it with all of your own music. It automatically generates the tap notes for any song you choose from your iPod library, instantly. It also has a number of game themes for both portrait mode and landscape mode.
• Photo Shootout 1.0 lets users experience the challenges, glamour, fame and fortune of being a pro photographer anytime, anywhere on their iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Photo Shootout provide live-action in-game assignments, allowing users to edit and sell their photos, and admire their work in the in-game portfolio. Users even earn game-money from their assignments to purchase more pro-camera equipment within the game’s camera store.
• In honor of Jerry Garcia’s birthday, Sam Cutler’s memoir, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” will be available for half-price in the iTunes store through the month of August. Sam Cutler is the former manager of The Rolling Stones and The Grateful Dead. His iPhone app includes both the text version of his memoir and an audio version, read by Cutler. Also included are exclusive photos and videos.
• DistinctDev, Inc. has announced “Food Fight”, the 4th section of their hilarious and wildly popular brain teasing iPhone game, The Moron Test. The Food Fight section introduces many more of the features that players have come to love about the series. There are awesome new characters, hilarious question types, and challenging new game mechanics. The DistinctDev team has added over 45 free questions with more than 100 steps on both the iPhone and Android platforms.

• Agile Web Solutions has announced that with the recent update of 1Password Pro in Apple’s App Store, cloud synchronization of secure information via Dropbox is now available for all 1Password users. 1Password is a highly secure database for keeping track of web site logins, secure notes, identities, credit cards, bank accounts, and software registration information. In addition to Dropbox sync, version 3.5 of 1Password Pro also includes full support for iOS4 and more.
• PhatWare Corporation has announced WritePad for iPad 4.1, an update to their advanced handwriting recognition software for iPad devices. WritePad lets users take notes in their own handwriting with an iPad stylus pen or their finger. The state-of-the-art handwriting recognition software will adapt and learn while it is being used, improving the recognition quality overtime. Version 4.1 now includes a Twitter client, which allows users to compose Twitter updates in their own handwriting.
• Darren Murtha Design has introduced Preschool Memory Match 1.0, a classic game of concentration for iPad, iPhone 4, and earlier generation iPhones and iPod touch devices. Designed to be fun and educational, Preschool Memory Match features over 220 items for kids to match and each item plays a custom sound effect specific to that graphic. • Bacon Bear Productions has released Mr. Moneybags 1.1, a beautiful iOS application designed to track personal IOU’s and aid users in quickly collecting on those debts later. • PlayFirst, Inc., has announced an update to its highly successful iPhone game, Wedding Dash. • FourthFrame Technologies has announced Simple Genius Project 1.4, their new suite of apps for project management on the iPad platform which build on the success of their flagship app Project Pad. SG Project supports building and monitoring task-based project schedules and sports table and Gantt-style views familiar to professional project managers, but usable by anyone. FourthFrame adopted the new moniker Simple Genius for the suite and Project Pad has now become Simple Genius Project.
