The Booq Taipan Spacesuit XS is straightforward iPad sleeve made out of silky smooth neoprene. It may be a good choice for those looking to protect their iPad while in another bag as long as you like the looks.
There really isn’t a whole lot to talk about concerning the Booq Taipan Spacesuit XS. It’s a top loading iPad sleeve made of neoprene, with a different color on the inside than the outside.
The only distinguishing property about this sleeve is the specific type of neoprene of which it’s made. Neoprene can be quite different from product to product. This type is shiny and almost slippery. There’s also a wavey pattern in the fabric that you may or may not find pleasing.
The sleeve functions exactly as you’d want it to. Sleeve’s aren’t designed to be feature rich, and this one is no exception. All it’s really supposed to do is keep your iPad scratch free while stuffed inside of something else, and it does that very well. It’s big enough for you to use it with an iPad in a standard case too, so no worries there.
The only problems I have with this sleeve are purely cosmetic. The sleeve is just not appealing to me. It’s very shiny, slightly slippery and has a wave pattern that I find to be an awful combination. I would have designed this sleeve to be much less shiny, and I would’ve done away with the wavey pattern.
Actually, I probably would have just copied the most similar sleeve by Incase and added a pocket, handle or maybe that Teralinq thing that Booq puts on many of their bags. But then again, not everyone shares my taste; otherwise I’d open a design firm and we’d all be happy, right? So, don’t let me tell you what looks good and what doesn’t.
The Booq Taipan Spacesuit XS iPad sleeve does all the things a sleeve ought to. It’s protective, it’s thin, and it slides easily into another bag. So, it comes down to looks. Maybe you like shiny, wavey sleeves. If not, you’ll have to just keep looking.
