JailbreakMe.com, the popular browser-based jailbreaking tool that recently took the iPhone and iPod Touch community by storm, may have just seen its day. A new update for the iOS software on both the iPhone and iPod touch, as well as the iPad, addresses the PDF exploit that JailbreakMe.com was using to install their code. While anybody who hasn’t updated yet will still be able to use the service, this update will stop new users from jailbreaking in the future.
More importantly, though, is that this update will stop any attacks from happening on the iPhone in this manner. Keep in mind that although JailbreakMe.com was technically using the exploit for good intentions, this very same exploit could have been used to access all of the data on an iPhone in a malicious way. Good to see Apple got it out relatively quickly.
