If you were wanting more about the details about Apple’s AA NiMH rechargeable batteries, we’ve found some. Website SuperApple did some research, and as you could probably guess, Apple likely didn’t make them.
Big surprise, right? Turns out, the new NiMH AA batteries are most likely rebranded Sanyo Eneloop batteries, model HR-3UTG. SuperApple did some pretty good analysis on the Apple batteries; all of the results mimick those of the HR-3UTGs, but there’s still no direct evidence. If they are indeed correct, that’s good news, because the Sanyo Eneloop batteries are widely considered the best available. They’re rated to recharge around 1,500 times and hold 75% of their charge for up to three years while just sitting around. That’s a lot better than the kind of rechargeables I remember.
Still, Sanyo Eneloop branded batteries can be had a bit cheaper than Apple’s, so you might want to skip straight to the source. If your Apple allegiance holds that strong, or if you really want all of your charges and power adapters to look the same, you might at least consider buying extra Eneloop batteries to save a bit of cash. You’re Apple gear won’t know the difference.

From Eneloop to Infinite Loop!
I like it!
Do Sanyo Eneloops come with a charger that Apple says they invented that nearly eliminates vampire draw?
