How to locate your iPad serial number when you don’t have your iPad

There may be times you’ll need your iPad serial number when you don’t have your iPad with you. Hopefully, you wrote it down somewhere (or kept the box). If not getting the serial number out of iTunes even without connecting your iPad is not as difficult as you’d think. All you need to have is access to a computer that has had a previous sync with the device.

Just follow these steps:

1. Open iTunes.
2. Click on iTunes in the menu bar, then select “Preferences…”
3. Click on the “Devices” icon.
4. Hover the mouse over a backup of your data to see the serial number.
