As usual, this week’s list is chock full of appy goodness. There are shopping apps, games, utilities and the ever-popular limited time freebies. See if you can’t find something useful this week.
StumbleUpon – Is a great way to find interesting websites. The much loved web service is now availalbe for iPhone. It’s already available for iPad, but now you can use it on any iDevice. StumbleUpon lets you “stumble” across the web to sites that other users have marked as interesting. You can give say that you liked or didn’t like webpages, which affects which sites you’ll see next. Eventually, the service will give you less pages that you find uninteresting. It’s a great service that provides endless amounts of entertainment for when you’re really bored.
Half.com – Whether you’re going back to school and want to buy books for much cheaper, or you just like getting a deal, this app might be just for you. It’s the official Half.com app. Half.com is a lot like Buy It Now on eBay, they are both from eBay after all. You can search for books, music, movies and games like regular, or take advantage of that camera on your iPhone and scan a barcode at a store. If you don’t mind waiting a few days to get your stuff in the mail, Half.com can be a real money saver, definitely one of my favorite sites.
H&M – The official H&M app to keep you updated on the newest clothes at your favorite retailer.
Bubbles Free – Basically a Puzzle Bobble clone. You control a cannon that shoots bubbles. All you have to do is match colors to make bubbles fall to clear the board. Looks simple and fun.
Pull Ups iGo Potty – I seriously doubt that the best way to potty train your kids is to convince them that the toilet is actually alive and can talk. That’s just creepy. But if you disagree, check out this app. I’m fairly certain it’s going to be a thousand times funnier than it is useful.
Star Wars: The Battle for Hoth Lite – It’s Star Wars, meaning you pretty much have to download it. This demo should give you a pretty good taste for this real time strategy game that takes place on the icy planet of Hoth. You can play through three levels as the Rebel Alliance. The Alliance needs you.
All-In-One Gun2 – Another gun app, I know. This one has 45 “legendary” guns for you to look at and fire at a target. The whole gun app thing might be totally covered on the App Store already, but hey, guns, right?
FOX Business for iPad – Say what you will about Fox news, but this app can still be useful to just about anyone interested in the stock market. Keep track of stocks with slick charts, up to date prices and historical information. You can track up to 20 stocks in your portfolio and compare up to 4 at a time. iPad only.
Vintage Clock Free – Your iPhone just sits there in its dock being thuroughly useless while it’s charging up. So why not put that screen to use as a clock? Why not a ridiculously good looking one?
X2 Snowboarding Base – A free cell-shaded snowboarding game for iPhone. The controls are accelerometer and touch based, but if you make a mistake, you can rewind time. If only you could do that in real life. Boards are sponsored by Salomon, and there are numerous in app purchases available if you really dig the game.
Cubler – Free for a limited time. This puzzle challenges you to clear the board by matching colored sides of your cube to colored tiles on the board. When two colors match, the board is cleared. But the longer you take, the more squares light up. It’s a very challenging game.
