If you were to take a look at Apple’s U.K. website, you’d notice—as shown above—that iOS 4.1 is due to ship to an iOS device (except the iPad) near you on September 8th. Yet, if you take a glance at the same page on the U.S. website, you’d read that the same update is “coming soon”. There’s obviously a discrepancy between the two here, but they’re both most likely to be right. Either the U.K. version has slipped the date too early, or the U.S. version hasn’t been updated. Whichever is correct, we feel pretty confident that the software update will be available next Wednesday for you to download and enjoy.
There’s also a slight possibility that Apple has decided to let the British have the first play with the new Game Center and HDR photo capabilities, although I would imagine that’s nothing more than wishful thinking on my part (I live in England).
As far as iOS 4.2 is concerned, we’re still looking at a November release date, but we don’t know anything more specific than that at this time.
