Jeff Vogel and Spiderweb Software are about to unveil Avadon: The Black Fortress, the first game in a new fantasy role-playing adventure series set in the land of Lynaeus. In it, you are a member of the Pact, which consists of an alliance of five countries who are banded together against many enemies who seek to destroy them. Unfortunately, the Pact countries hate each other almost as much.
Avadon: The Black Fortress takes place shortly after a brutal civil war which nearly brought the countries ruin. It was then decided there had to be a way to make sure both external and internal enemies were destroyed of before they could do any harm. That’s when Avadon was created, an organization with the power and resources to keep the peace no matter what. You, as a Hand of Avadon, will be responsible for making sure that all threats are eliminated before they become too much of a danger.
As usually happens, you arrive in Avadon just when things are seemingly falling apart. Hands of Avadon are being killed, enemies of the Pact are causing trouble all at once, someone seems to be directing events from the shadows, and it’s up to you to decide what the outcome will be. Do you remain a loyal servant of Avadon and uphold its laws or do you decide that things would be much better if you were in charge? Fortunately, you won’t be alone as there are four other Hands of Avadon from which you can choose to take with you on your missions, each with his/her own opinions and goals. You can help them or act against them as you see fit, and your choices will change what happens in Lynaeus.
Avadon: The Black Fortress features four character classes (Blademaster, Shaman, Sorceress, Shadowwalker), dozens of quests and dungeons to explore, lots of gear to find and upgrade with magical crystals, and a huge adventure with a lot of reply value.
