Provides: Protection from scuffs/scratches and minor drops
Minimum Requirements: iPhone 4
Now this is just lazy designing. Or maybe we’ll call it old school. Remember when the first iPod was released and accessories starting crawling out of the primordial ooze? Pretty much all of them were just varying colors of silicone back then. That’s what iLuv’s Spectrum Silicone Case is…basic, boring iPhone 4 protection.
Everything about this case is just kind of okay. The fit is fine, although the headphone opening may be too small and close to the port to fit your particular headphones. The power and volume buttons are covered, but indicated with ridges. The mute switch is open, and the dock/speaker/mic area is left uncovered, of course. The back camera opening, unlike in the pictures above (from their website) is large enough for three cameras. There’ll be no flash issues here.
The fit is good, and it’s easy to get the phone in and out. While the Spectrum Silicone Case is in place, the back and every corner and edge of your iPhone 4 will be protected. The screen is also protected via the case’s bevel that raises it above the surface, as well as by the included protective film.
And yet, I can’t really get into this case because it just feel’s like last decade’s technology and design. Even the colors are boring, which is ironic considering the name. The iLuv website show Spectrum models in orange, pink, green and purple, but you can only order them in black, blue, red, white and yellow.
It’s possible this is enough for your needs. Not everyone wants to pay a few dollars extra for fancy designs and textures. So be it. iLuv’s Spectrum case will protect your phone, and it does so at a fair price. But with so many other options out there (including some good ones from iLuv), hopefully you’ll find something that better reflects your personality…and the personality of your Apple device.
