Unlocked iPhone 4

Apple surprised us all early this morning as the online Apple Store started displaying the unlocked iPhone 4. There was a strong rumor last weekend that Apple is about to do this, but nobody expected it this soon.

Both the white and black models of the iPhone 4 are available in 16GB and 32GB versions. Both iPhone 4 units are available without contract from AT&T or Verizon. This also means these units can be used worldwide. The 16GB iPhone 4 gets a $649 price tag while the 32GB iPhone 4 is being sold for $749. Apple promises to deliver the black, unlocked iPhone 4 in 1-3 business days, while the white iPhone 4 can be shipped in 3-5 days.

As with the previous unlocked versions of the iPhone which were released in several countries, the U.S. unlocked iPhone 4 also requires a micro-SIM from a supported carrier. This includes SIM cards from AT&T and T-Mobile.

So, if you’ve been wanting to own the iPhone 4 but didn’t want to get tied up under a two-year contract with either Verizon or A&T, now you have another option. So, who’s going to get one?

I think that I will take a rain-check on that, will like to get a phone which is good hardware along with it's impressive IOS, and app store. However, the high $ 649 price-tag that comes along with the unlocked phone, not worthy it at all. If people take the initiative to look around on the internet, there are many other phones(out there, other than an Iphone) with the same usability but with lower price.
