Although many iOS apps mimic the basic functionality of what Measures HD has to offer, no other app does it quite the same. With a good-looking calculator-style interface and a plethora of measurement conversion possibilities, along with some other additional features, Measures HD surely blows most (if not all) of the competition away.
What is it?
Measures HD is basically a unit and currency conversion app. However, it goes well beyond just that with the ability to add favorites, lookup measurements through Wikipedia directly within the app (with the option to go through Safari, as well), and even customize the UI skin and some other app functions. Most other unit and currency conversion apps don’t offer much more than the bare minimum, which is where Measures HD exceeds them.
How does it work?
Measures HD is incredibly easy to use. For simple unit and currency conversion, all one must do is select the units/currency to be converted and then simply enter the amount to be converted in the calculator. If you need to customize the app before use, perform a Wikipedia lookup, or add a favorite, icons for each are available along the top of the app by the search bar. Aside from all of that, everything else is left up to the user’s data entry and subsequent conversion.
Is it contagious?
While Measures HD may not be the most entertaining app that you will spend hours on end using, if your job or school work relies heavily on unit and currency conversion, Measures HD can be a very useful app to own. Even for those who don’t heavily work or learn with measurements, there’s always a time when you’ll need to do perform such conversions—like when you wish to make an international purchase and determine how much it’ll cost you in your country’s currency.
For the $1.99 price tag, no matter who you are and what you do, you can’t really go wrong with Measures HD.
