iPhone Santa ClausChristmas is upon us, and the festivities are now underway. If you’re going to have your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad with you (and why wouldn’t you), why not make merry with it instead of just sending texts and checking Facebook? Over the past month, we’ve rounded up all of the iDevice holiday apps for sharing photos, tracking gift purchases, reading stories and just enjoying the season. Many are free, and all are festive, so head in now to see what you can find under the app tree.

iPhone, iPad and iPod touch Apps

  • New – Happier Apps has released Jingle Booth 1.20 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. A newly launched, free application, Jingle Booth arrives in the App Store just in time for spreading holiday cheer via its built-in Christmas themed photo frames. Users are able to select from favorites such as Santa and Frosty, or pick from an array of colorful, seasonal frames. Creations can easily be shared. This is one of the only high-quality photo frame apps available for free this holiday season.
  • New – Ovelin, creators of WildChords, the guitar learning app for iPad, has announced the release of a free festive song package. Budding musicians can strum along with a cheerful selection of Christmas and holiday classics in the hit iPad game. The new content includes a variety of holiday tunes to teach users chords and melodies as they learn songs that will liven up any holiday party or family get-together. The holiday pack will feature some familiar holiday tunes with a WildChords twist.
  • New – Graphic Node is a graphic design company that specializes in creating themes, templates, and illustrations for Mac OS X and iOS. It has just expanded its assortment of iWork templates with a Christmas update of the iOS version of Designs for Pages. The enlarged pack for Apple’s Pages for iOS now consists of 707 high-quality, effortlessly customizable templates, including 80 new holiday-themed pieces.
  • New – daCapo Software has announced the release of Snowy Christmas on the iTunes App Store. With a combination of two indispensable elements for the holidays – snow and music – this app lets users experience a white Christmas wherever they may be. Users can choose from one of three snowy scenes, listen to pre-recorded music or their own iPod playlists, and control the size and rate of the snowfall. This app has been designed to offer an immersive experience to both the “young and the young-at-heart.”
  • Zaggle has announced Christmas Music 2.1.0, an update to the completely free, legal download of their popular holiday themed music app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices.   • Night & Day Studios decorated Peekaboo Barn just for the holidays—see bunnies in beanies, cows in hats and horses in knee socks. This new, holiday version is a free update inside Peekaboo Barn, just upgrade to the latest version to get it. The app will revert to its “regular” self on January 6th.

  • anxer has announced iSantaMe 2012 Edition v2.3, their camera app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. The story introduces Henry the reindeer and his rather unusual adventure with Santa Claus. Cousin of Rudolph the famous reindeer, Henry surprises Santa Claus every year with unwelcome surprises and new unorthodox ways of delivering the Christmas presents. This year, his inability to fly the right way up means that Santa has to deliver all the presents upside-down.
