MacRumors is reporting that a new job posting filed by Apple on June 13th 2007 has confirmed that the Cupertino-based company is indeed looking for engineers who are familiar with “OpenGL and other 3D technologies” to work on the “next generation of iWork”.
This makes sense because iWork07 has been delayed for quite sometime; it was expected to be announced in January at MacWorld this year. There were also expectations that it would debut together with Leopard, however no mention was made at last week’s WWDC Keynote.
Rumors also indicate that the next version of iWork will ship with a spreadsheet application, similar to Microsoft’s Excel. A 3D interface has never been built inside an office suite, so it will be fascinating to watch and see if Apple can pull this off.
