Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition will be powered by an upgraded and improved version of the Infinity Engine, include the original Baldur’s Gate and the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion pack, and have a new adventure and party member never seen before. It will also take advantage of some OS X specific features, including widescreen and iCloud support.
It will also support cross-platform multiplayer, which means that gamers on an iPad, Mac, and PC will all be able to play with each other in the same game at the same time.
“Since its initial release in 1998, Baldur’s Gate has entertained millions of fans around the globe, and has received countless awards,” Overhaul Games said. “This classic saga of mystery, intrigue, and adventure has set the standard for Dungeons & Dragons computer role-playing games ever since.”
Overhaul Games will then bring out an updated Baldur’s Gate 2, which will also likely come out for the iPad and OS X. Eventually, they would be interested in making a Baldur’s Gate 3, but that project won’t be started until the first two games are released.
While the cost isn’t finalized, the iPad version is expected to cost less than $10 and will be available on the App Store. Nothing has been said about the cost of the OS X version, but that will be available on the App Store and Steam.
