Ever since Apple rolled out Mac OS X 10.4.10, numerous complains have risen over “popping and snapping noises” heard from the speakers of Intel Macs. These noises appeared at random; they were attributed to the sleeping/waking of the audio subsystem.
Apple has finally responded with an update that supposedly address this problem. Audio Update 2007-001 is now available for download, and will only install on Mac OS X 10.4.10. For users who are still running 10.4.9 and earlier, Apple has also released 10.4.10 version 1.1, which includes the audio fix.
