Summer is here, and that means you can go out and enjoy activities you can’t during other times of the year. Does that mean you have to leave your iPad at home? Nope. As a matter of fact, it can help to enhance your experience.  Here, we look at three of the most helpful iPad apps for camping.

Camping List ($1.99)

If you’re the kind of person who always gets to the site and realizes you forgot the bug spray, then this is the app for you. Camping list has everything you need to bring.

Just be aware that if you have young children or dogs with you, some of the items you will consider essentials—like diapers, canned dog food and baggies—will not be on the list. So, you may want to modify for those needs.

Just because you are outside doesn’t mean you don’t want to eat well.

Camping recipes HD will give you a great list of recipes that are campfire friendly and quite tasty.

Go Sky Watch Planetarium ($3.99)

Looking up at the stars is nice, but knowing what you are seeing is even better.  This app uses real time satellite positions that show you what you are looking at with name and constellations drawn over them in real time, making it a good app for a romantic evening or for answering kids still in the everything-is-a-question phase.
