While Magic: The Gathering may not be as popular as it was a few years ago, the card game is still alive and well. Fans of the game with an iPad are now able to play the official Magic: The Gathering game on their tablets, and for free as well.
The official iPad game has been titled Magic 2013 and was developed by Wizards of the Coast, the company behind the original card game. The game is mostly just “Duels of the Planeswalkers,” (previously available on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and Steam), and therefore doesn’t give players complete control over their decks (you are only able to customize your decks with the cards that have been available to you). Aside from that small limitation, the Magic 2013 app offers full gameplay through a campaign, with three free decks to start you off and even a free Planechase mode. Magic 2013 also offers in-app purchases for more content including additional decks and game modes, and even online multiplayer.
If you’re a fan of Magic: The Gathering (or just card games in general), this is definitely a title that you’ll want to pick up on the App Store. You can never go wrong with a free game!
