iPhone been pwned

Hackers have been wanting to get their hands on the iPhone. Now that the iPhone has been released and has made its way into their hands, hackers are taking the iPhone apart and seeing what they can change easily and see what they can change with more than a little elbow grease.

There are currently five hacks listed on the site. They include modifying the carrier logo to one of your choosing (their example, “pwn”), adding your own ringtones to the file system, updating and rearranging the widget icons on your home screen, and revealing the two “secret applications,” one of which includes the field test which has already been mentioned in an earlier post.

All of this hacking comes at a price: you could become a nervous wreck if you choose to do these hacks and are not sure if you want to go through with them. The stability issues are still in question. TUAW also reports that the bug in the software that turns your gigabytes of storage into megabytes has been fixed, as well as adding the “getfile” and “putfile” functions, but no “removefile” for erasing items you do not like.

Details for getting the software and how to do the hacks are available on TUAW’s site.
