Call of Duty: Black Ops for OS X review

Although Call of Duty: Black Ops II was released just a few days ago, I’ve been given the opportunity to review the first title in the series which was released on OS X this September, two years after its original launch on PC and consoles. It is unfortunate that Mac users had to wait this long to be able to play the original Black Ops, and Aspyr’s port to the platform may disappoint hardcore fans of the series.

Tumblr’s iOS app now completely native

Of course, one major advantage native apps have over web-based apps/content is speed, and the change in that regard is obvious upon using the new version of Tumblr’s iOS app. Everything loads and responds much faster, and lag is no longer much of an issue (except, of course, on slow Internet connections). Also new in Tumblr v3.2 for iOS is a redesigned Dashboard with larger photos, notification previews, animated GIF support, and more.

Path updates its iOS app with iPad support

Chances are if you’re into social media, you’ve probably heard of Path, a quickly growing social network founded by Shaun Fanning that allows its users to keep a social journal, or “Path,” of their lives. Path gained more popularity when it launched its iPhone app a short while ago, and may do so again with the release of a new universal version of the app adding support for the iPad.

Griffin releases its Kiosk iPad mounts

While this is an accessory geared towards business customers more than anyone else, Griffin has just released two new Kiosk iPad mounts: the $300 Floor Mount and the $200 Table Mount. The Floor Mount screws into the floor and brings an iPad to 47.5″ above floor height, while the Table Mount simply mounts an iPad so that it sits approximately a foot above table height.

Axiotron’s new Modbook Pro to launch this fall

Axiotron is the company behind the original Modbook; a MacBook that had been converted or “modded” into a stylus-based tablet by repackaging a MacBook’s hardware and adding the touch screen components. The original Modbook has been around for five and a half years now, so it has certainly come time for a refresh, which has now happened with the new Modbook Pro.

Google Drive iOS app now available

Another piece of news out of Google’s I/O event is the release of an official Google Drive app on the App Store, available universally for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. The new official iOS app provides access to all of your files and folders that are stored within your own Google Drive account as well as content shared with you by other Google Drive users, but it lacks full editing capability.
