VLC 2.0 for OS X and Windows arriving this week
Chances are you’ve heard of VLC media player before, and you might have even used the iOS version of the app on your iDevice. Regardless, in the first major release since VLC 1.0 debuted back in July of 2009, VLC 2.0 will be making its way onto Macs everywhere later this week. The VLC 2.0 screens show that the app’s user interface and general design have undergone a substantial change from the current version.
Macworld | iWorld 2012: Notion and Progression by Mad Sun
The folks from Mad Sun were on deck at MacWorld | iWorld 2012 with a new version of Notion music creator for the iPad. Notion1 was released about 5 years ago with a new iPad version released in the last year. There is a planned iPhone version that should be available in March or April. The program lets you play back, modify or create a musical composition in staff notation with the ease of the tap and drag iOS interface.
Apple updates Final Cut Pro X, multicam editing returns
Apple updated Final Cut Pro X to v10.0.3, adding multicam editing, advanced chroma keying, broadcast monitoring, support for XML 1.1, and more. Current owners of Final Cut Pro X can get the update for free from the Mac App Store. For those interested in giving it a try before you buy, there’s a 30-day free trial available.

Logic Pro and MainStage available in the Mac App Store
Logic Pro is available for $199, while MainStage costs $29.99. Both apps have also been updated with new features and improvements. MainStage has received a revamped interface, it can now take advantage of Macs with 4+ processor cores, and it supports more MIDI devices. Logic Pro comes preloaded with an extensive collection of instruments, effects, and Apple Loops, making it simpler to create stunning sounds and songs.
Boxee announces Boxee Live TV
While Boxee has been making waves in the Internet video space and helping people make the switch over from cable for a few years now, they still recognize that cable offers certain shows that Internet TV simply can’t.
