The “Single of the Week” is now “Free On iTunes,” and it includes TV.

On Friday, Apple released a minor software update for the iTunes application for both Mac and Windows. The iTunes update is centered around correcting a bug that prevented iTunes podcast subscribers from being able to view new episodes on the podcast playlist. The update also addresses a problem that caused iTunes to become unresponsive while the user navigated the list of downloaded podcasts.
Apple’s 12 Days of Gifts app–which is released annually—is finally getting to the more robust offerings such as movies and TV shows. The application offers customers a free gift every day for 12 days after Christmas. Up until now, the app has offered select songs from artists Lorde and Justin Timberlake, Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2014 book, and an episode of ABC TV’s, Once Upon a Time. Now, Apple is offering customers Martin Scorsese’s 2011 film, Hugo, to iTunes users in the United States and Canada, while international users of the app will get the Christmas classic, Home Alone.
As previously announced, Apple’s annual Holiday giveaway is starting today via the 12 Days of Gifts iOS app, which was released a couple of weeks ago. And what a way to kick off this annual gig but with free songs from one of the hottest singers in the world today: Justin Timberlake. That’s right, you can fire up your 12 Days of Gifts iOS app now and download two songs and videos from Justin’s performance from the iTunes Festival: London 2013 EP.
April 28th of this year will mark the iTunes Store 10th Anniversary. And to celebrate a decade of revolutionizing the world of music distribution, Apple has posted a Decade of iTunes micro-page at the iTunes store-front to honor the event. Visitors to iTunes will immediately notice the interactive timeline in front of the iTunes Store, giving fans a quick look at how the music store has matured over the years.
Apple made a minor update to the iTunes Store this week, giving customers the choice to store music and video purchases for later downloading. The new “Later” or “Download” option window appears in iOS 6 and in iTunes 11 when users purchase music, movies or TV shows. Users will need to have an iCloud account activated to use this feature.
Despite the horror stories you may hear about Apple customer service, give them a chance next time something goes wrong, be it your fault or theirs. You might save yourself some money…and you could just end up with a new best friend in the process. A Single White Female kind of best friend, but a best friend nonetheless!
iTunes update v11.0.2 is now available from Apple with a slew of enhancements and bug fixes. The update makes improvements on how iTunes handles large music files, solving the issue of some users whose purchases weren’t showing up in their iTunes library. In addition, iTune v11.0.2 comes with a new Composer view for Music.
