iPad 2 fakes 3D with front facing camera
3D is all the rage these days, but almost no one likes wearing the glasses that are necessary for nearly all of the 3D technologies. Researchers at France’s Engineering Human-Computer Interaction Research Group (EHCI) have demonstrated a method that simulates 3D with iPad 2 and its front facing camera. They’re calling their method the Head-Coupling Perspective, and it works by tracking a user’s head and adjusting the image on screen to simulate a 3D experience. Surprisingly, it appears to be fairly effective.
