iResQ has posted some pictures of what they believe to be the glass for the 4th generation iPhone. There are two notable differences from the current iPhone glass. First, it’s taller (1/4 inch) and it has an extra hole. Gee whiz, I wonder what we think that’s for; this extra hole in the glass certainly could be for an extra, front facing camera for video chatting. I won’t deny it; I want one, that’s for sure. But at the same time, I find it too good to be true. Parts like this aren’t that difficult to fabricate, so I’m not totally sold.

Despite being around for a while, the image above of the possible fourth generation iPhone has gone relatively unnoticed thanks to the iPad announcement. However, according to both Engadget and AppleInsider, the photos come from a pretty credible source. Furthermore, I noticed that the larger frame around the iPhone in the image is very similar to the one we saw in the leaked iPad photos that turned out to be correct.

After nearly two years of rumor and speculation, it seems the clamor for an Apple tablet will finally be met with an official announcement. Will it finally arrive? Will we also see updates to the iPhone OS? The iPhone itself (additional carriers beyond AT&T, perhaps)? How about iWork and iLife? It’s funny, with all the hype surrounding the rumored Apple tablet, how easily we forget about its apparent big (or little?) brother, the iPhone. The release of a new iPhone has become a yearly event, so it’s no surprise that someone somewhere is eagerly awaiting the next iPhone. And this one image sums it up pretty nicely, complete with percentage of likelihood.
