Jurassic Park: The Game, Episode 1 for iPad 2 review

jurassicpark1a

I think we finally have a decent Jurassic Park video game, provided you’re an iPad 2 gamer. It’s always been difficult to place humans against dinosaurs in the gaming world. In action games, the size disparity means that pretty much every moment has to be a boss battle. Games need to have more going on than dinosaur fights, and Telltale has struck a good balance with Jurassic Park: The Game HD.

It’s the dawning of the Age of Enigma in the Mac App Store

What kind of games are you into, then? Puzzles? Mini-games? Hidden objects? Casual Box Studio’s Age of Enigma Special Edition covers them all, and it does it for only $7.99 in the Mac App Store. Fiery nightmares, ghosts, pirate-infested seas, Japan…Age of Enigma Special Edition throws it all at you in one casual adventure app.

Yesterday arrives in 2012

Pendulo Studios made its mark in narrative-driven adventure games with the Runaway saga, and recently saw a Macintosh release of its comedic homage to Hollywood: The Next Big Thing. The company is taking a darker turn with their next title—Yesterday—due for release in the second quarter of 2012.

Jurassic Park: The Game will launch November 15th

If you’re a fan of Jurassic Park, you’ll be excited to hear that Jurassic Park: The Game from Telltale Games has gone gold and will be available on November 15th. Not only for the Mac, but the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Windows. An iPad version is in the works and will come out a few days later via the App Store.

Hector: Badge of Carnage Ep. 3 for OS X review

Episode 3 provides an excellent wrap up for this series. In addition to the opening sequence set in the countryside, you must navigate the city fun fair, then face off in a series of climaxes as you finally take down the evil mastermind behind the Badge of Carnage series. The games aren’t hard, but they are well-written and, most of all, fun. Here’s hoping D.I. Hector returns to gaming soon.

The Next BIG Thing adventure game for Mac OS X review

The Next BIG Things feels very much like the type of adventure games I used to play back in the mid-90s, but with updated graphics and voice actors who can actually act. Despite its faults, I completed The Next BIG Thing feeling like I’d just finished watching a rather enjoyable movie; one I was looking forward to discussing with friends.

Coladia announces $9.90 Mac adventure game sale

The weekend’s about over, but the good times have only just begun…if you’re an adventure gamer, that is. That’s because Coladia has announced their Summer Holidays Sales on their Mac Games. What holidays? I have no idea. I assume it’s a French thing. Regardless, their excellent collection of Mac games will be sold at half price until July 31st through Coladia’s webstore and the Mac App Store.

“The Next BIG Thing” comes to Mac OS X

Think the next big thing to come to the Mac will be at WWDC on June 6th? Wrong. It’s coming June 2nd from Pendulo Studios, and they’d like to introduce you to it today. The Next BIG Thing—from the developers of the Runaway trilogy—is an original adventure game that pays homage to the classic detective movies of a Hollywood past. View the trailer inside.

Hector to flash Badge of Carnage April 27th

When a game draws comparisons to “Leisure Suit Larry,” you have to pay attention. So, that’s exactly what we’re doing with Telltale Games’ announcement that Hector: Badge of Carnage Episode 1 – We Negotiate with Terrorists will be released April 27 for PC, Mac and iPad and has a very long title. Mac and PC pre-orders come with a free copy of Puzzle Agent.

Return to Jurassic Park this April

Oh, what a glorious time to be a Mac gamer, and who would’ve thought it’d be adventure games to bring us back to this point? But that’s what’s happened, due in large part to Telltale Games. They’ve brought us Sam & Max, Wallace & Gromit and Back to the Future, and they’ve now announced that Jurassic Park: The Game will ship this April.
