New Kindle ad mocks the inability to read on an iPad in direct sunlight
One of the main hardware choices between the Kindle and the iPad is the screen. While Apple’s iPad has an LED-backlit glossy widescreen Multi-Touch display, the Kindle has a high contrast E-Ink screen. In making this decision, the Kindle lacks colors beyond grayscale. However, it also allows the device to be read without much difficulty in direct sunlight. If you were to try this on an iPad, as the new Kindle ad shows, you’d probably get a terrible glare that makes it all but impossible to read.
Amazon Kindle app coming to the iPad
After just last week releasing a Kindle application for Mac OS X, Amazon has now announced the same for the iPad. Apparently, they are in the process of creating an application that would not only allow you to read your Kindle books on an iPad, it would even let you purchase items from the Kindle Store right on your iPad. Furthermore, Amazon is including their Whispersync technology that syncs bookmarks, notes, and page positions between the Kindle and other devices.
Kindle or iPhone? Amazon turns your iPhone into a Kindle
Earlier this week, I wrote about what roles the iPhone and Amazon Kindle play in allowing us to access our favorite content. Well, now it seems as if Amazon has decided to turn your iPhone into an actual Kindle 2. If their new Kindle iPhone application is any hint at what they have in mind, then it’s going to be good. Although this application doesn’t allow you to buy content straight from it (yet), you are able to use Safari to actually purchase the content. However, don’t let that sway you, this app is pretty awesome.
