The Case for Flash on the iPad, part 1 [updated]

If the iPad is intended as a media consumption device, then should it offer Flash, since so much online media is available that way? Droid to be available November 6th for $199 with contract

It has been confirmed by Verizon that their new Droid phone, the device in the iPhone attack ads, will be available on November 6th for a price of $199 with a 2 year contract and $100 mail in rebate. The hardware, which has been created by Motorola, will be the first phone on the market to run Google’s Android 2.0 and will feature turn by turn navigation via Google Maps for free. However, that’s not where the benefits over the iPhone stop.

FTC investigates Apple/Google ties

The Federal Trade Commission is investigating whether collaboration between Apple and Google is violating antitrust laws, according to the New York Times. Part of the problem, it’s reported, is that the companies share a couple of Board of Directors members. Also, Apple and Google are both allies and competitors: Google makes the Map application which is included on every iPhone, but they’re also behind the Android software that makes the G1 cell phone.
