Apple has announced the winners of the Apple Design Awards for the year of 2009 and posted the results on their website. According to the company, “The Apple Design Awards recognize technical excellence, innovation, and outstanding achievement in iPhone and Mac software development. Each year, winning products set new standards for usability, performance, technology integration and adoption. This year’s winners raise the bar even higher.”

The results of this year’s British Technology Awards are skewed so heavily towards Apple that I have to wonder if Steve Jobs wasn’t maybe a judge. Actually, the results were determined by “… thousands of votes …” so it may be a fanboy thing. Still, having such rabid fanboys is certainly better for business than simply impressing a handful of men and women who sit around labs and pick apart technology all day.

Well, well, what do you know? Don’t tell me the guy who plays a PC actually uses a Mac in real life? Say it isn’t so! Yes, it’s true, John Hodgman has been outed. He recently came clean about his devotion to Apple. The New York Daily News caught up with him at the Johnny Walker Blue bottle engraving party and John had this to say, “I play a PC only on television. I’ve used Macs since 1984.” When I was a kid, I talked my dad into getting the very first Mac and I’ve been loyal to the brand ever since.”

I definitely enjoy my Mac, too, but for some reason I never saw John as a Mac guy, perhaps because of the character he plays in the commercials. How silly of me.
