Rumor: Apple to announce iPad 3 in February
A report from the Japanese blog Macotakara claims Apple may be making the final preparations to unveil the iPad 3 in February. The site has a pretty spotty record regarding some of Apple’s product plans, but is citing sources from Asian supply chains stating that the iPad 3 will go on sale in early March.
Apple releases its iTunes Festival 2011 iOS app
Apple’s iTunes Festival has brought a lot of great performances from a lot of well-known artists in the past. This year, the annual festival will be starting on July 1st at Camden’s Roundhouse in London for 31 nights of live performances by 62 bands, including Coldplay, Linkin Park, and Foo Fighters. To go along with Apple’s event, the company has released an official iTunes Festival 2011 iOS app that allows users to check performance schedules and more information on the bands that will be there this year.
Apple’s March 2nd iPad event is officially on
Well, there you have it. Official invitations have been sent out for Apple’s March 2nd event, as predicted yesterday by Kara Swisher at All Things Digital. The invitation clearly indicates (or hints strongly towards, depending upon how you read Apple invites) an iPad-centric event. Hopefully, though, we’ll get more than that, as I really don’t want 2011 to be just the year of the iPad.

An Apple special event in September? Again? Maybe…
9to5Mac is reporting that analysts at Piper Jaffray are predicting Apple will hold a special event this September to make some new announcements. These new announcements, according to the analysts, include new iPods and Macs.
This rumor does not site any insider sources, but seems to be purely speculation. Gene Munster, one of the analysts, points out that Apple has held a special event every September for the last three years, so it’s not that hard to believe that they would do it again. What about Apple Expo 08?
