Rumor: MacBook Pro and iMac refreshes by end of year

I’m more than a little skeptical of news that the MacBook Pro will get refreshed before the end of the year, especially since the rumor comes from on an unnamed source. However, “people with proven insight into Apple’s future product plans” state the new models will have faster processors, but little else. If you want the latest and greatest, I’d wait a month or two just in case this rumor turns out to be true.

Free eBooks from Project Gutenberg on the iBookstore? Yes please.

Rumor has is that the iBookstore will be preloaded with 30,000 free Project Gutenberg eBooks. If true, this could mean you wouldn’t have to go searching for free eBooks, or worry about how to get them on to your iPad next week when the iPad launches. If you’re scratching your head as to what Project Gutenberg is, then let me explain. It’s an online library that offers digital copies of public domain eBooks for free.

Next gen iPhone to be touchable…on the case

With rumors of the Apple Tablet on the horizon, there has also been speculation of what the new iPhone may bring. Along with obviously having updates on software and internal hardware (which is much needed, due to the increase in competition, lately), it will most likely contain something even more innovative. Topping the list of interesting new features isthe possibility of a touch screen case much like that of the Magic Mouse.

Apple reportedly using all of the 10.1 inch LCD and OLED screens

Over the course of CES, TG Daily came upon a rather interesting rumor after talking to various vendors. As it goes, some companies were trying to get 10 inch screens to use with their products but were met with months and months of struggle thanks to Apple. Apparently, our favorite Cupertino company has pre-ordered so many 10 inch LCD and OLED screens that the Asian manufacturers aren’t able to supply other companies with what they need.

Foxconn rumored to be supplying tablet parts for 1Q of 2010

Well, the Apple tablet rumors just never die, do they? The latest source of information (read: rumors) is coming out of the idea that Foxconn, a Taiwanese company that manufactures a lot of products for Apple, has pieces lined up for the development of a device such as this. According to the DigiTime sources, they will have 300,000 to 400,000 of the products made and ready by the first quarter of 2010. They go on to state that the device will have a 10.6 inch display which would obviously be touch screen.

Steve Jobs rumored to be extremely focused on tablet

According to the Wall Street Journal, “people familiar with the situation” have said that the 54-year-old Steve Jobs has been spending much of his time working with the new touch screen gadget device that Apple is cooking up. Furthermore, one person working on the product’s advertising and marketing strategy said that they are under intense scrutiny from Steve Jobs himself. While rumors of the “iPad” have been heating up recently, some stories have been published saying the rumors are simply rumors and the product doesn’t exist.

Apple Keynote to take place September 9th?

According to sources for All Things Digital, Apple will most likely be hosting another music event this September 9th. While this is on a Wednesday (not the usual Tuesday Apple schedules), ATD says their sources are “close to the company.” It’s rumored Apple will most likely have the event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts where it has been held for the past couple of times. At these September event, anxious fanboys usually find refreshes to the iPod and iTunes parts of the companies, not Macs or MacBooks.

Leaked video of Apple’s rumored tablet device

To be completely honest, I had no idea whether to believe all of the rumors about the Apple tablet. That is, until I saw this video. While rumors of an Apple tablet have appeared on the web numerous times as people feel Apple has to enter this market, there has always been just as much evidence in the other direction saying Apple won’t have a tablet. All that said, this video looks pretty legit, if you ask me. If it is a fake, a lot of time must have been put into it.

More rumors surface on Apple tablet (excuse the pun)

It seems as if almost every time there is an Apple announcement coming up, more rumors of a Mac tablet show up. This time around, TechCrunch is reporting that they have heard from OEMs and people who have held prototypes that a 10 inch Mac Tablet and/or large iPhone is on the way. According to them, the price point for this product will be anywhere from $500 to $1,000 and “the project is very real.”

Can Apple keep a secret anymore?

Apple specific websites and RSS feeds these days are full of rumors and photos of potential Apple products and updates. Yet, a lot of people like to believe that Apple is a secretive company that rarely lets out any information whatsoever. For example, who would’ve thought that Apple was going to release a multi-touch phone that would one day become one of the most popular phones on the planet? However, when you think about it, it may be true that it is getting harder and harder for Apple to keep secrets nowadays.
