Mac Mini or AppleTV to be based on NVIDIA Ion

The guys over at TomsHardware are claiming to have sources who say Apple will be using NVIDIA’s Ion platform for either the next Mac Mini or AppleTV. The sources say Apple was the first to receive samples of the platform while others still only have blueprints. The Ion platform makes use of the 9600M GPU, which is more than capable of decoding full HD video. This is apparently paired with an Intel Atom processor. That last bit there is what makes a lot of people think this is destined for the AppleTV. The Atom isn’t exactly the optimal processor for the Mac Mini.
