Rumor: Safari 5 to be unveiled today

It seems that this past Friday, rumors started to circulate that Apple will be launching Safari 5 as early as today’s WWDC keynote presentation. With it, Apple is believed to be taking aim at Google with features such as an option for Bing search engine integration (has Google really made bedfellows of Apple and Microsoft?) and at Adobe with increased HTML5 functionality.

iPhone 4G launch day to be June 7th?

This year’s World Wide Developer Conference held by Apple is set to kick off June 7th and continue through June 11th. Coincidentally, rumors of a new iPhone as its launch day are also on the horizon. And according to Mashable’s “sources familiar with the situation,” this June 7th is to be the day that Apple not only announces the new hardware (as it did with the 3G and 3GS) but also actually makes it available for sale.

Appletell giveaway: Xtands and Cooling Bar from Just Mobile

WWDC is upon us. That’s great news for all Macintosh, iPhone and iPod owners, but it can come with a tinge of sadness. After all, we can’t all upgrade to the new hardware that Apple is sure to announce. To cushion the blow, the fine folks at Just Mobile have offered us three products to give away to Appletell readers: the Xtand for iPhone and iPod touch, and the Cooling Bar for Apple laptops.

A fantastic week of E3 announcements and demonstrations is past us, and it’s now time turn our attention towards Apple’s WWDC. The event kicks off Monday, June 8th at 10:00 PDT (1:00 p.m. EDT) from the Moscone Center in San Francisco, but we couldn’t wait to get our live blog up. Why? Because we’ve got some great products to give away, and we want to let you know how to win them.

The event will begin with the usual keynote from Apple, with Phil Schiller giving a preview of Mac OS X Snow Leopard. We’ll also see the public release of iPhone OS 3.0, but there are two more things that we’d like to see: a new iPhone and Steve Jobs.

Think you’ve got the best iPhone app out there? Best Mac OS X program? Well, if you’re an Apple Developer Connection (ADC) member or registered iPhone developer, from now through May 4th you can now submit your app for consideration in the Apple Design Awards 2009. The “best designed applications” will be honored at this year’s WWDC, to be held June 8-12 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA.

Apple’s WWDC event has a date set

Each year, Apple holds an event for developers of Mac OS X and the iPhone OS. This event—The World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC)—is held in the summer months, and Apple have set the dates for this year’s conference as 8th – 12th June 2009. A lot of the event means nothing to a lot of people, unless you’re a part-time coder or have an interest in developing applications for Apple systems. But there’s also a presentation that the rest of the world looks in for.

Sprint attacks iPhone with their Instinct

Samsung and Sprint want to start a war; a war I don’t think they can win. In this recent video from Sprint and Samsung, they are pointing out the Instinct’s dominance over the iPhone when it comes to taking videos. However, if some rumors are true, this commercial won’t be true for long as the iPhone will soon have video conferencing. Check out the video after the break.
