Appletell exclusive: Interview with Michael Chorost, author of “World Wide Mind”
I caught up with Dr. Chorost recently in his adopted hometown of Washington, D.C., fresh on the heels of the February 15th launch of World Wide Mind. We had a chance to explore some of the themes introduced in the book, and dig a little deeper into Chorost’s vision for how human communication might function if we were able to transmit emotional information and memories at the speed of the Internet.

Sometimes when I’m in the mood to talk specifically about games, I do so over at Gamertell. This week, in my Single Mac Gamer Seeks column, I focus solely on Steam—Valve’s digital distribution platform that’s now available for the Mac. Portal, City of Heroes: Architect Edition, Torchlight and Guns of Icarus already available. With more promised (Portal 2, Half-Life 2, Left for Dead (1 & 2) and Counter-Strike), just how much of an impact will this have on Mac gaming?

Appletell reviews Scoops game for iPhone, iPod touch
If you had a choice between ice cream and vegetables, most people would pick the ice cream for all of its sugary goodness. Well, that is exactly what you are required to do in Scoops. You start off with an empty waffle cone. Ice cream and vegetables start falling from the sky, and you need to catch the ice cream in the cone by tilting your device left and right to move the cone accordingly. Ice cream good, vegetables bad. You start with three stars, and if you are unlucky enough to catch a vegetable, it takes a star away. When you are down to zero, the game is over.
A new Appletell design for 2009
We are very excited to launch the next version of Appletell. We have rolled this new design out to Gadgetell and Appletell, and will follow-up with Gamertell in two weeks. Here is a rundown of what we were trying to achieve with the new site and some of the changes that went along with it.
Appletell reviews Sneezies for iPhone, iPod touch
Sneezies is definitely a unique idea for a game on the iPhone, and iPod Touch platform. The point of the game is to get as many of the “Sneezies” to sneeze as possible. This is done in a chain reaction kind of way. You place one sneeze at the beginning, and must cause a chain reaction to get as many Sneezies to sneeze as possible, therefore popping their respective bubbles.
Full review after the break.
