Spartacus: Blood and Sand contest winner, sale announced
Do you like iPhone games about…gladiators? Rocky Schuster does, but maybe that’s because he’s in one now. Rocky was the winner of Artificial Life’s Spartacus: Blood and Sand “Be a Gladiator” contest. As such, his name and facial features have been represented in the updated version of the iPhone game as a new character: the 9th Gladiator. Good thing he had a manly name like Rocky ready to go, eh?
iPad Appidemic: iSink U iPad Edition
iSink U is the latest take on the classic battleship game, this time taking full use of the iPad’s high-resolution screen to deliver a compeling game with great 2D graphics in a 3D environment. The game offers several levels of game fun, cool battle themes, and animation that makes it worthy of the price you have to pay to get this game running on your iPad.
Appletell reviews Pandorum for iPhone and iPod touch
Movie tie-ins generally suck when it comes to gaming. They’re often made cheaply, they’re rushed through production to drop on or before the movie release date, and they’re often hampered by restrictions on story and characters that may not be conducive to gaming. In the case of Pandorum for the iPhone, it may be the opposite. Here’s a game that’s likely more enjoyable than the movie on which it’s based.
Appletell reviews International Athletics, iSoccer Backstreet and Archer for iPhone/iPod touch
The iPhone couldn’t be a true gaming device without a selection of sports-related games to have a look at. In this roundup, we’ll take a look at International Athletics, iSoccer Backstreet and Archer.
App it Up: iSink U
The unfortunately named iSink U plays mostly like the classic game of Battleship, in which you place your fleet of ships on a grid and then randomly call out attacks on your enemy. If you hit, fire again in that same row or column. Miss, and try again elsewhere. The first player to sink his opponent’s fleet is the winner. But the gameplay/strategy of iSink U (seriously…if you can’t come up with a good name for your game, hire someone else to do it) goes much deeper.
Appletell reviews iDroidsMania for iPhone, iPod touch
Here, then, we have an iPhone game that desperately does not want to be an iPhone game. It wants to be on the DS or the PSP. Or maybe even the good old Macintosh. I mean, it plays well on the iPhone, but throughout, I could just feel it trying to penetrate it’s iPhone shell. As a platformer, you can expect plenty of jumping, swinging across pits, fighting unrelenting enemies, and…sexual innuendo?
