Rage lashes out on Mac OS X

Rage: Campaign Edition

There’s been a lot of gaming news today—big releases—but they’ve all been for iOS. If you’re a Mac gamer, how do feel about that? Angry? Does it make you mad? Maybe even fill you with rage? Good, because Aspyr is offering up an appropriate way to release it. The venerable Mac game publisher has announced that Rage: Campaign Edition is available now from GameAgent.com. And if you order it by February 8th, you can get Doom 3 for only $1.

Duke Nukem Forever for OS X review

I could more easily forgive Duke Nukem Forever’s shortcomings if the developers had the guts to let them be the humor. But rather, they try to draw comedy by making fun of their (mostly superior) competition, and ultimately making fun of us, as if Duke alone is above their (and our) scorn. And yet, Duke himself is the reason why this game doesn’t work. He’s not funny, he’s not annoying, and the game eventually works its way there, too.

Duke Nukem Forever now available for Mac gamers

One of the great things about being a Mac gamer is that I haven’t spent a single minute within the past decade waiting for the return of Duke Nukem. As such, the fact that he is, in fact, now back on the Macintosh comes without years of expectations and frustration, and we can just enjoy it for what it offers: massive weapons, giant explosions and weight lifting…starting today.

Duke Nukem Forever saves Mac gamers (and babes) this August

Well, I suppose if you’re going to bring a highly controversial M-rated PC/console game to the Macintosh, it may as well be one with a legacy of ripping off “Army of Darkness.” Aspyr has announced their bizarre but kind of wonderful intentons to release Duke Nukem Forever for the Macintosh this August, proving that a release delay of over 12 years means we’ll just get the Mac port faster than ever.

Aspyr offers 50% off Mac games every Monday in March

On this Monday and every Monday in March (four in all!), Aspyr is offering 50% off four of their A-list games in the Mac App Store. Confused and frightened by the Mac App Store? No worries, as Aspyr is mirroring the sale in their own GameAgent store. They’re also running additional flash sales on their non-Mac App products through their Facebook and Twitter feeds, but who cares about that nonsense?

Roller Coaster Tycoon III: Platinum review

Roller Coaster Tycoon III Platinum goes beyond the classic sim/strategy game, giving users a fun mix of titles: the standard RollerCoaster Tycoon game that features a land based mix of rides, and two bonus packs—RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Soaked! for those of you who want wet rides, and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Wild! for the safari edge.

Aspyr brings monkeys and a whole lot of Civ to Mac gamers

Aspyr announced last week that The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition is now available in Apple’s Mac App Store. They also announced that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Civ IV: Colonization are on sale through February 17th. They also announced seven new Civ V Mac content packs. I’m not sure it’s fair to expect anything more from them.

Appletell reviews Civilization V

For those who already know and love the Civilization games, the heart of it hasn’t changed. Improve your cities, explore the world, research technologies, forge alliances, and fight wars. The combat changes are going to annoy some players, but I think it helps focus the game on a more subtle, political approach to winning the game, rather than just trying to build the biggest army as quickly as possible.

Aspyr announces RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum for Mac

There are wooden roller coasters, and there are steel roller coasters. Now, apparently, there will be platinum roller coasters, as Aspyr Media will be bringing RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum to the Mac this holiday season. The bundle will include RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Soaked, and—for the first time on the Mac—RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Wild.

Appletell reviews The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition for Mac OS X

This is kind of a pointless review to write. You’re either the type of gamer who will play an enhanced version of an adventure game originally released twenty years ago, or you’re not. Personally, I’m unapologetic in my love for the adventure games of the ’90s, and am therefore unapologetic in my love for The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition.
