Yeti Pro USB and XLR microphone review

What do you get when you take an already great microphone, turn up the quality to uncompromising levels and add every feature you could possibly need or think of? Blue’s Yeti Pro is the answer to that winning combination. Yeti Pro starts with the original Yeti, an already amazing microphone, and adds a stereo XLR output and support for 24-bit recording, among other things. It’s hard to believe it only costs $100 more than the original Yeti.

CES 2011: The top 5 gadgets for Apple products

There are far too many new products introduced at CES for any one person to sort through in a reasonable amount of time…but I’m capable of the unreasonable. That’s why I’ve done all of the work for you by painstakingly reading press releases, walking the show floor, and talking to developers all to find the best and most interesting product coming this year. Here are my Top 5 Apple-related products of CES 2011.

CES 2011: iOS audio accessories

CES is packed with great audio gear. There are always a ton of headphones, but I’m talking about accessories to help you make music. Stuff like microphones and accessories that help you create. Here’s what I found to be the most interesting products that can be used with iOS devices, including products from IK Multimedia, Samson, Griffin, ION Audio and more.

CES 2011: Blue Microphones announces the Yeti Pro USB and XLR mic

Blue Microphones has announced Yeti Pro, with a recording resolution of 24 bit/192 kHz, making it the highest digital resolution microphone on the market. It connects over USB like the original Yeti, but also has an XLR output for expanded usability and a cool black exterior to set it apart visually. Now you can have the best of both the digital and analog worlds with one microphone. The Yeti Pro will be available in February at an MSRP of $249.

Blue Microphones Mikey for iPod 2.0 review

If the built-in microphone of your iPhone or other iDevice isn’t cutting it, there aren’t a ton of options available to you. Of course, you can always hook up a bluetooth microphone or use the headset/headphones that came along with your iPhone, but if it’s quality you’re after, you’ll have to look elsewhere. One of your only choices happens to be a great (albeit expensive) one at that. Blue Microphone has updated their Mikey mic for iDevices. And it’s a great mic, as long as you don’t need to use it with an iPhone 4 or iPad.

Appletell reviews the Blue Yeti THX certified USB Mic

If you’re going to buy one nice mic, why not make it one heck of a mic? I mean, if you have one really nice mic that reproduced sound better than you thought was possible, you wouldn’t want to use any other, right? That’s how the Yeti makes you feel. And actually, it’s more than just a mic. It’s three mics in one with its triple microphone capsule, and it even has a headphone amp built in. And just to prove it’s awesome, the Yeti is the first mic to be certified by THX. Yes, if you’re going to buy one mic, why not make it a Blue Yeti?

Appletell webcam shootout: Blue Eyeball 2.0 vs IPEVO P2V

iSights come standard on every new Mac except the Mac mini, but there are various reasons why you’d want to look elsewhere for your webcam needs. Perhaps you need a higher resolution, more placement flexibility, or even a better microphone. These just begin to indicate why I took a look at the Blue Eyeball 2.0 and the IPEVO P2V.
