Beacon universal remote control system for iOS review
I’ve never used a universal remote in my life before trying Griffin’s Beacon, so I really had no idea what to expect, how everything would work, or whether my TV would even be compatible. But I was pleasantly surprised by almost everything about it. Most of all, I was amazed at how fast and easy set-up was; the whole process took me well under five minutes to complete.
Apple Computer joins the Bluetooth board
Apple Computer has joined Intel, Motorola, Lenovo, Nokia, Microsoft, Ericsson AB, and Toshiba by being appointed to the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) board on June 21, 2011. The Bluetooth SIG is a non-profit organization that oversees the development of Bluetooth standards and the licensing of the Bluetooth technologies and trademarks to manufacturers.

ThinkGeek announces special edition iCADE
Just as promised by ION Audio, ThinkGeek has announced their special edition of the iCADE complete with retro graphics. Functionally, it’s the same as ION Audio’s recently announced iCADE. It also costs the same at $99.99. But the outside has a bit different vibe, and you get points for supporting other geeks online right?
Appletell Gift Guide: iPad cases
Whether you’re looking for a gift for the holidays or a present for yourself, iPad cases are probably number one on every iPad user’s list this year. iPad cases come in many different styles and colors, and each has different feature sets. So, I thought I’d make it easy for you and aggregate all of the best iPad case reviews into one place. That should give you a head start (and if you waited this long to buy a gift, you’re going to need it).
Appletell reviews Magellan’s Premium Car Kit for iPhone and iPod touch
I really like the Magellan car kit. It works just as well as the TomTom kit and is comparatively priced. Actually, I think this cradle is more worthwhile since it’s more flexible in what devices it supports, which always makes me happy. Even if you don’t have the RoadMate app, you might opt to buy the Magellan kit for its charger, speaker, speakerphone and enhanced GPS reception for the iPhone on any other app (yes, even TomTom and Navigon).
CES 2010: Jaybird announces BlueBuds Bluetooth Earphones
This year at CES, JayBird announced the next generation of bluetooth headphones: the BlueBuds. This time, they’re much smaller. They have music controls and a microphone, so you don’t miss out on any of the regular features of the standard iPhone headset. They even shape to fit your ears with a flexible (but stiff) cord. Next iPhone rumored to have support for 802.11n and more
Either Apple is doing what they obviously should by adding 802.11n to the feature list of the next iPhone or someone knows what I want and is making up detailed rumors to make me salivate. I’m sticking with the first. AppleInsider dug up some information pertaining to a new WiFi and Bluetooth chip that’s supposed to make it’s way into a new iPod touch, and through the law of obviousness, a new iPhone. The current chip, which you should know by name (BCM4325), supposedly will be upgraded to BCM4329. That’s 4 points higher!
Developer manages to Tether with iPhone OS 3.0 over USB and BT
Apple stated in their iPhone OS 3.0 preview special event that the OS update is fully compatible with tethering, or sharing your iPhone’s connection with a computer, on the client side. All that’s keeping you from tethering iPhone OS 3.0 is an agreement between you and your cell phone provider. Well, unless you’re a developer and don’t mind hacking a little bit. Steve Troughton-Smith, a developer, managed to do just that, and isn’t shy about letting the world know about it.
A Bluetooth keyboard for the iPhone?
The Macworld Expo is like CES – so many products to see that you forget about most of the smaller ones. But sometimes, the smallest products are the coolest and most innovative out there. Macworld picked up on something quite special: The $100 BTKeyMini from MacAlly. It’s a small, portable, foldable Bluetooth keyboard – something more »
