Boxee announces Boxee payments

Boxee, aiming to make the internet the fourth method of distribution in today’s world, has announced they will be launching a payment system as part of their business model. According to their post, their goal is to “equip the content providers that we’ve spoken with over the past year, both big and small, with a way to monetize their content above and beyond the advertising-only model.”

CES 2010: Boxee box specs, QWERTY keyboard remote

Announced about a month ago, the Boxee Box promises to be one of the best set up boxes on the market once it is released. Getting their start by “hacking” the Apple TV to use their software, the Boxee team quickly made a name for themselves as a great way to access internet media on your TV. This year’s CES has brought more details on the actual specs of the Boxee Box, along with announcement of a full QWERTY remote keyboard.

Free Apps roundup for March 20th, 2009

The big news this week is, of course, Boxee’s remote app. It’s free and it helps you control Boxee, a social media application, with your iPhone or iPod touch. If you use Boxee on a regular basis, then this is the app to install this week. Beyond that, I have some games for you to try out, as well.

Boxee releases remote application for iPhone

Boxee, a company known for providing software for the Apple TV and other platforms, has created an application for the iPhone that will allow you to use your mobile device as a remote. Like the Apple iTunes Remote, its purpose is to make it easier to control your media from a far distance. The application is already in the App Store, and is free. Currently, it has gesture and button mode and works over Wifi on your local network. One of the best parts about it is that you can more easily enter text by using the iPhone keyboard instead of having to use a keyboard on your TV.
