Boxee firmware update adds Vudu support

If there was ever a reason to update your Boxee box, today’s news would be it. According to the Boxee blog, the latest firmware update for their product will bring support for Vudu, a high definition, on demand movie service (which is unfortunately only available in the United States). In addition, this firmware update brings the usual enhancements and bug fixes you’d expect from an update. In fact, the list over at Boxee’s blog is actually quite long, so check it out if there’s been a bug you’ve been waiting to fixed.

Boxee gets Lost, finds ABC

Today, Boxee announced an update to their social media application to include support for ABC. Now it’s easier than ever to watch Lost, Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy from your Mac. Boxee already has support for Hulu, CBS, WB and Joost. Add ABC to the mix, and what else is there? ABC is a huge addition to the Boxee lineup. Torrentfreak claims that Lost was the most pirated TV Show on Bittorent in 2008. But that might change in 2009. If you can watch your favorite TV shows in full HD streaming legally on the web, with the addition of a few small ads, then it’s much less likely that you’ll be forced into pirating. If only all of these networks would put their entire catalogs on the net, then we’d really be in heaven.

Boxee named “America’s Next Top Gadget”

Hey you know what would be great? If there was a way to play Hulu without going to the website. Or while we’re at it wishing, why not CBS and Comedy Central too? Yeah, that would be great. If only it were possible…

Wait what? It is possible? I can watch Hulu and CBS on my Apple TV… like full episodes, movies and clips and stuff? Seriously?

Seriously. And all you need is to get America’s Next Top Model Gadget as selected by the Consumer Electronics Association.

Details and video after the break.
