Boxee Live TV Tuner helps you cut the cable

boxeelivetvtuner

Along with rolling out Boxee version 1.5 to the boxes, you can now get additional content into your Boxee box with the Boxee Live TV tuner. It’s a USB dongle that plugs into the back of your Boxee Box and delivers over the air (OTA) content into your Box, giving you yet another reason to cut the cable (bill). This makes the Boxee Box the first mainstream set top box to deliver over the air and over the top (Internet) content. Try to do that with your Apple TV.

Free Apps Roundup for August 12th, 2011

Boxee finally makes an appearance on iPad with a fully featured app. In fact, it even supports Grooveshark, provided you have a paid account. Facebook is starting to release more apps; this time they offer Facebook Messenger, because you just can’t talk to your friends often enough, can you? I also managed to find a bunch of great apps and games for your free downloading pleasure.

Boxee announces Grooveshark application

Hot on the heals of yesterday’s Boxee for iPad announcement comes another one from the Boxee team. This time it involves the Boxee Box and streaming music. More specifically, Boxee has announced they now have a Grooveshark application that will allow you to stream all of your favorite music just as you can anything else through Boxee.

Boxee Box review

Boxee has made quite a name for itself in the set top box and streaming content market. After starting out on jailbroken Apple TVs, Boxee has grown to the point that it could land some great deals with content partners. For instance, recent support for Netflix streaming, Vudu purchases, and more has been quite awesome to see. And now, we’ve had the chance to try out the Boxee Box itself.

It’s here: the Boxee Box lands November 10

By the looks of things, this could turn into the year of the Internet TV. We’ve seen the latest offerings from Apple with the re-designed Apple TV, and Google has made its entrance with its conveniently named Google TV. Now, not a minute too soon, the Boxee Box is about to ship. Each competitive device has its own merits, with the Boxee Box claiming to bring “all your favorite TV shows and movies from the Internet or your hard drive onto your TV.” It’s a simple enough idea, and the hardware, built in partnership with D-Link, is sure to look great on display.

Boxee gets a few movie libraries

Boxee has been an awesome service to use if you want to get easy access to full length TV shows from networks across the web. Along with having a great interface, Boxee even has their own set top box and payment system. All that said, access to TV shows all that Boxee really offered…until now. This week, Boxee is adding a new feature to their platform called Movie Library, giving their users access to thousands of movies across the web.

Boxee announces Boxee payments

Boxee, aiming to make the internet the fourth method of distribution in today’s world, has announced they will be launching a payment system as part of their business model. According to their post, their goal is to “equip the content providers that we’ve spoken with over the past year, both big and small, with a way to monetize their content above and beyond the advertising-only model.”

CES 2010: Boxee box specs, QWERTY keyboard remote

Announced about a month ago, the Boxee Box promises to be one of the best set up boxes on the market once it is released. Getting their start by “hacking” the Apple TV to use their software, the Boxee team quickly made a name for themselves as a great way to access internet media on your TV. This year’s CES has brought more details on the actual specs of the Boxee Box, along with announcement of a full QWERTY remote keyboard.
